Launched in 2005, BAFTA in the Regions is a programme of screenings and events run throughout England in partnership with the Regional Screen Agencies.

With the BAFTA Regions initiative, we are working to engage with a broader audience from within the film, television and video games industries and the general public. Since its launch, BAFTA in the Regions has held screenings and events in many towns and cities across England, including Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield. In 2006 we hosted events in over 20 locations across England.

Our events have comprised pre-release screenings, interviews, workshops and masterclasses, with industry luminaries such as Stephen Woolley, Steve Coogan, Virginia McKenna OBE, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Ken Russell, Paul Abbott, Robert Thirkell, Andrea Calderwood and Suzie Templeton.

We have also hosted sessions at several festivals including Sheffield Doc/Fest, Kendal Mountain Festival, Kurdish Film Festival and Animated Exeter. In November 2006 we hosted three days of BAFTA Goes Bollywood on Tour, our biggest event to date, at the Birmingham Mela.

All of our events provide audiences with opportunities for inspiration, entertainment, insight and hands-on learning. We look forward to building upon the success in the Regions, and expanding our activities further throughout England.

All events and screenings are free for members to attend with a guest unless stated otherwise.
