The Orange British Academy Film Awards in 2009 mark the twelfth year of Orange's partnership with BAFTA. Orange CEO Tom Alexander talks about the company's ongoing involvement.
We are extremely proud of our 13 year partnership with BAFTA, and the Orange British Academy Film Awards remains an integral pillar of our film portfolio. Undoubtedly the most respected and credible film event in the UK, the Film Awards are synonymous with celebrating the very best of international cinematic talent.
At Orange we try to engage people with things that matter most to them, a belief that is central to our brand vision of ‘Together We Can Do More’. Film continues to be one of the most important of these passions and our BAFTA partnership gives us a chance to celebrate this year’s excellent performances, both behind and in-front of the camera − performances that have captivated audiences, and given us unforgettable shared moments of emotion, enjoyment and excitement.
To bring the British public closer to the Film Awards, we encourage them to come together and decide upon the next Orange Rising Star , in the only category to be voted for by non-BAFTA members. 2010 marks the fifth anniversary of the Orange Rising Star Award, and we are delighted to see the success each of the past winners have since enjoyed.
James McAvoy was the first winner in 2006, followed by Eva Green in 2007, Shia LaBeouf in 2008 and Noel Clarke last year. A special thanks to this year’s Orange Rising Star jury for their time, knowledge and commitment in selecting the short list of rising stars: David Parfitt (Jury Chair), Noel Clarke, Pippa Harris, Jason Isaacs, Fiona Weir, Charles Gant, Simon Morris, Kate Lee, Melvin Odoom, Nev Pierce, Hannah Marriott, Larushka Ivan Zadeh, Jason Solomons, and an extra special thanks to the public for casting their votes.
We believe film is better shared, and Orange Wednesdays continues to ensure our customers can enjoy film together by offering them 2 for 1 cinema tickets every week. Beyond the cinema environment, we also continually strive to facilitate and give access to film through developments in technology. Our services include an improved film site on orange.co.uk and on mobile, allowing Orange customers to access in-depth guides to film anytime, anywhere, including listings, cinema locators, film synopses, reviews, trailers and much more.
The Orange British Academy Film Awards remains the most dynamic and glamorous of partnerships which helps to champion the British film industry. By pledging our continued support, applauding new talent, and broadening accessibility, we hope to bring people together through a shared passion for film.
